Protecting Ecosystems Brings Benefits to Society
This article focuses its attention on the several benefits which would arise due to it protecting ecosystems in Europe. Such Europeans feels that protection would result in benefits to both the economy and citizens health. Ecosystems are essential to the well being and prosperity as they provide food, clean air, and fresh water. Ecosystem services are the function performed by ecosystems that increase well being. A report aimed to promote a better understanding of how ecosystems and biodiversity provide essential benefits to society. This initiative demonstrated how European researchers, including social scientists, ecologists, and economists can combine their expertise to display values of such services. On benefit would include the positive effect on water purification services, thereby improving water quality and increasing economic benefits to society. Secondly surveys showed citizens are willing to pay for access to forest ecosystems for recreational purposes, and also relieve stress. Lastly, insects such as bees and bumblebees are key parts in providing pollination services to maintain Europe’s crop production. Such benefits prove to me that it would be a wise decision of Europe’s government to focus some attention on their ecosystems. From information displayed it would have positive effects on the people and their economy.
False Killer Whales Get New Protection Rules
NOAA Fisheries announced twp actions they would take in order to protect false killer whales in the Pacific Islands recently. This was in order to comply with the Marine Mammal Protection Act, the Endangered Species Act, and two other federal court orders. These species are members of the dolphin family, are uncommon, but found worldwide.
