Dr. Jose Rizal has been known for so many decades for being a martyr and for his love in his country that brought him to be the Philippine National Hero among the other heroes who also died for the country. But as the researches and studies of Rizal’s life go deeper, lot of controversies has come up that made it a big issue for many. Because of this, the researches decided to conduct a study to solve these intriguing issues to arise in a conclusion that will answer Filipino’s questions.

This study will be significant to all Filipino citizens as Rizal for being the inspiration and role model for fighting his love in his country and the freedom against the invaders using his pen and paper. Also this will be beneficial for the students and also the teachers specifically History and Literature for this will provide new information and facts about the life of the national hero. This will help in the wide understanding how and why he chooses to be a martyr for his country.

For those who are interested about Jose Rizal’s memoir, this will also be significant to them because this will open the door for more questions to be answered for it will expose some of Rizal’s hidden secrets.

And finally, this study about Dr. Jose Rizal will be a great benefit to the government for it will be a refresher and a bridge for new studies about the Philippines National Hero.

This study was conducted to look for the answers of the missing link in the body of knowledge about the life of Dr. Jose Rizal. And for this, the study is limited to the Philippine context. The jurisdiction of the study will only encompasses controversies regarding Rizal’s sexuality, issues for choosing as the national hero, and the novel Makamisa that was intended to be his third and last novel.

Statements and information from the interview of the known historian Ambeth Ocampo, author of different books about Rizal, will be the foundation of this study. Also the researchers will conduct its study to the places where Rizal is prominent specifically Calamba, Laguna, Fort Santiago, and Rizal Museum will greatly help them.

Finally, this study include some of the Philippines stature and laws concerning Dr. Jose Rizal namely as Memorandum Order 1425, Republic Act 1425, and CHED Memorandum No.3, Sec. 1995.
