This project investigates the positive and negative impacts of such a popular information resource as the Internet. The survey conducted among people of different ages groups and professions has revealed an obvious domination of the positive influence of the Internet over the negative one and the need to more carefully regulate the Internet use by different age categories.

Today information is very important in every field of people’s activity. People say that “who has information will always possess a situation”. So from day to day we obviously understand truthfulness of this expression. Ten years ago, the Internet was practically unheard of by most of people. But today, the Internet is one of the most powerful tools throughout the world. For sure in the nearest future the source developing very dynamically will become a leader among information resources. That is the Internet is without a doubt the greatest information source the world has ever known. But, as in the case with so many giant leaps taken by mankind, there are advantages and disadvantages of the Internet.

The choice of the topic is determined by the growing popularity of the Internet. The research attempts to understand its impacts, advantages and disadvantages. The importance of the topic is that the number of Internet users in Kazakhstan is increasing in a geometric progression.

In this research we want expose negative aspects of the Internet and suggest activities to solve with them. Our main hypothesis advanced in research is that the Internet has the balance between positive and negative aspects. The research has been conducted using the method of simple survey. The paper is divided into five sections. First one is introduction. Second section “The scope and popularity of the Internet use today” covers both sides, positive and negative, of the Internet. Next one describes the methods, process of the research and introduces the results of it. In conclusion the main points are mentioned and recommendations are presented. And the last section is references of all used sources.


Ten years ago, the Internet was practically unheard of by most people. Today, it is one of the most powerful tools throughout the world. The total number of Internet users now stands 1.319 billion and it is estimated that by the year 2007, this number will triple. Usually the users of Internet resources are almost all groups of society: children and students, teachers, doctors, business employees and so on. In the Harvard International Review philosopher N.J.
