INTRODUCTION

A computer is a general purpose device that can be programmed to carry out a finite set of arithmetic or logical operations. Since a sequence of operations can be readily changed, the computer can solve more than one kind of problem.

The first use of the word "computer" was recorded in 1613, referring to a person who carried out calculations, or computations, and the word continued with the same meaning until the middle of the 20th century. From the end of the 19th century the word began to take on its more familiar meaning, a machine that carries out computations. In a modern technology, computer is used also for computing taxes and salary. Usually the company uses a payroll system for easier computations.

Payroll at its most basic is a process by which an employer pays an employee for work performed. If you owned your own business but you don’t have any employees, then you don’t have to worry about payroll. But as soon as you hire your first worker you have a responsibility to pay that employee on time and the correct amount.

If employers fail in their payroll duties, there workers will be less motivated to fulfil their end of the bargain. They will be less productive and suffer from low morally. And if you make a mistake on a employee’s pay check enough times they probably quit.

From the worker’s perspective, payroll seems like a simple task but there is more to it than just signing a check and deliver it to your desk. An employer must make sure that the proper taxes are withheld from each pay check and that those funds are payed to the right government agencies at the right time. Complicated tax forms must be filled out and filed on annually, quarterly sometimes even weekly basis. Missed deadlines and improper tax filling’s can result in steep fines and even jail time.

Payroll duties can be a real burden on a small business owner instead of focusing on product development costumer service and other important business task, the boss is stuck in a back with a calculator and a stuck of any forms. That’s why all business and specially small business without their own accountant, need a reliable, effective and easy to use PAYROLL SYSTEM.

As we go along our way, we are obliged to accomplished a system that regards to PAYROLL SYSTEM in connection with our course in STI MAASIN as an IT student

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

As a student of Information Technology we are required to make a project regards with high technology. Since computer technology is the basic of our society now, we IT student are given a task to make a computerized system.

Payroll System is our main study for us to know how the company used the low technology system in a way to process the employees salary information. Especially to the employee who will need the records of their daily payment if they are paid or not.

However, the employers gets hard to find records of their employees, because they are going to scan all files containing all records, this can make their work inconvenience for the employees who need the information.

For the benefits of the company, employer and employees, our group proposed this sort of system in Public Employment Service Office to make their work easier, faster and accurately in recording, editing, updating and monitoring the information with regards with their salary and some easy process of the employees.
