Off the job training is the situation where employees are trained out of site that is area outside the actual work environment. It is done using lectures, case studies, role playing simulation among others. The study intended to examine the influence of off the job training on employee perform in the ministry of lands. The objective of the study was to find out the influence of off the job training and to determine whether the training available has any effect on performance and challenges of lack of skilled workers and more specifically To find out the effect of off-the –job training on performance of employees in the selected departments in the ministry of land in Meru District.To identify the methods of off- the – job training used by the selected departments.To establish if the impact of work environment on employee performance in the various departments in the ministry of land in Meru District.To determine the number of employees who have had some off-the-job training in the last five years, in various departments in the ministry of land in Meru District. The study adopted descriptive design as it gives intensive and detailed description of existing phenomenon with intent of employing data to justify and make plans that are more intelligent. The target population included all the departments of the ministry of land in Imenti North District in Kenya.
In the development of organizations, training plays a vital role, improving performance as well as increasing productivity, and eventually putting companies in the best position to face competition and stay at the top.Job involvement is supposed to be a very vital element which plays an important role for human resource as well as for the organization.
