Kumpulan Media Karangkraf was founded by Dato' Dr. Hussamuddin Bin Hj. Yaacub in 1978. Kumpulan Media Karangkraf is Malaysia's largest national language magazine publisher with 27 titles under its belt. Maskulin are one of the magazines published by Kumpulan Media Karangkraf. So we decided to make research about the making of Maskulin Magazine.
Introduction edition of Maskulin magazine was issued in September 2001 at the price of RM6.00. With the slogan “Takrif Terkini Lelaki Muda” Maskulin are cater to male readers. Maskulin Senior Editor, Richie Rachman writes in the introduction edition that there are too many magazines for women in the market. As if all of the magazines published exclusively for women. What about the needs of men? Are these people doing not need material reading that can help develop personality and interests? It is clear that no party publishers who think about the needs of men. Clearly, the presence of Maskulin magazine predicate upon the response of the English magazine such as FHM (Malaysia edition began in 1998) and concentrate on the content that attracted men.
