Executive Summary (Scope / Service Description)
The main goal of this project is to design and provide an automated scoring system to be used during the next NCAA basketball tournament. The system will track every point scored for every player on each of the 64 teams in the tournament for every game they play. A daily update will be calculated and posted to ncaa.com in 90 minutes or less following each games final buzzer. The project is to be complete no less than 30 days before the start of the 2012-2013 NCAA Tournament.Business Case This project is being taken on to enhance the fan’s experience during the tournament. With 64 teams involved and 13 available scholarship spots per team there are a lot of players to follow. The automated scoring system will make for a simple and easy to use location for fans to go and get up to date stats on their favorite players. The central location of this information on ncaa.com will make the information easily acessible and the daily updates will keep it current.Assumptions / Constraints It is to be assumed that no technical failures will occur during the tournament making the update system non functional.
