Inconsistency in garbage collection results problems in a community. Barangay 628 Zone 63 District VI Manila is one of the community that experiences this situation. Due to irregular waste collection, garbage were stack in houses and there are residents who put their waste in places that are not supposed to be. Proper segregation and scheduling were the solutions seen. Regarding this, each house should separate biodegradable, non-biodegradable and recyclables to each other. Biodegradable will be collected every other day while non-biodegradable will be collected everyday. Collected biodegradable will be put on a compose pit placed in the barangay to turn it into organic fertilizer. The cost of the project will vary depending on the bidding but should not extent to the previous contract which is Php10, 000 per truck. Once the proposal implemented, decrease in garbage pile is expected.
INTRODUCTION
Background
Proper disposal of garbage is one of the most common problems that a community faces. According to study, a household generated an average of 3.2 kg of solid waste per day, or 0.50 kg/capita/day. The households rely on garbage collection ruled by the government which is done everyday. It was not properly implemented that results piling of garbage in one’s house.
Problem
Barangay 628 Zone 63 District VI Manila experiences the same situation. Due to inconsistent waste collection, some residents dump their garbage in non-designated pick-up points, usually in a corner of the street (beside College of Communication and College of Engineering and Architecture building) and even in facade of the Barangay Hall. The dumped garbage becomes a breeding ground for disease-causing organisms. Some household respondents said that it is possible that the dumping in certain areas caused the dengue fever suffered by some of their family members. While there are others who just stack it in their houses that results to foul smell and filthy surrounding.
Purpose
This project proposal offers solutions to the said issue which are proper segregation and consistent collection of garbage.
Scope
The scopes of this proposal are the following:
To find solutions regarding the waste collection problem in the area; and
To prevent massive piling of garbage in non-designated areas.
Procedure
All information for this report was gathered from the waste management council and residents of the barangay thru interview.
DISCUSSION
Generating waste is almost unavoidable in today's world. Properly segregating and disposing of your waste not only reduces the amount of toxins that enter the atmosphere, you may even save someone's life. Not all wastes are equal and some are so dangerous that they fall into a category all their own: hazardous waste. Segregation involves separating biodegradable, non-biodegradable and recyclables. Each house should separate biodegradable from non-biodegradable and recyclables. The waste management council of the barangay will let waste management companies bid for the contract in collecting the non-biodegradable garbage. They will also hire a maintenance man who will be responsible in collecting biodegradable that will be dumped in compose pit. Consistent collection of garbage means proper scheduling. Cost This proposal needs trucks that will collect the non-biodegradable garbage as well as the maintenance men who are responsible in collecting the biodegradable garbage and dumping these in compost pit. The waste management companies will bid for the new contract regarding the new garbage collection at the least possible price that will not exceed in the last contract which is Php10, 000 per truck. In the hiring for the maintenance, the barangay will fund the wages of the needed workers. For the materials that will be used in maintaining the compost pit, see table 2.

BENEFITS The benefits of this proposal are overall improvements to Barangay 628 Zone 63 District VI Manila solid and medical waste for increased environmental quality and public health. This will provide planning, design, and other assistance to develop and strengthen an integrated solid waste management (SWM) system.

Based on the figure 1, there’s a massive change in waste piling in the different areas. Because of the scheduled collection, the garbage piles in non-designated areas dropped from 80% to 20% while the garbage at home from 67.5% to 29.5%.
CONCLUSION This proposal shows that the garbage pile in different areas decreases which leads us in concluding that the proper segregation and proper scheduling of waste collection are effective solutions in the problem about inconsistency of garbage collection in Barangay 628 Zone 63 District VI Manila.

The study was conducted to know the public awareness about open dumping of solid wastes and its effect on the surroundings environment at Kachuadanga in Ward no. 11 of Tangail Pourashava. One hundred and ten people were selected through simple random sampling technique from Kachuadanga where 75 were male and 35 were female.
