Training:Training includes any efforts within the organisation to teach, to instruct, coach, develop employees in technical skills, knowledge, principles, techniques and to provide insight into and attitudes towards organisation. Basically is training as defined as learning and broadly it is an act of increasing the knowledge and skills of an employee for doing specific job.
According to BHEL:Training is a short term education process and utilizing a systematic and organised procedure by which employees learn techniques for definite purpose. In short it refers to improving the individual’s ability for performing the job or the organisational role.
Development:It is a related process. It covers not only those activities which improve job performance, but also those, which bring about growth of the personality. It helps not only good employees, but also better human beings.

CONCEPTS RELATED TO TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT OF BHEL EMPLOYEES
Motivation:Learning is enhanced when learner is motivated. Learning experience must be designed, so learners can see how it will help in achieving the goals of the organisation. Effectiveness depends on motivation and leads to employee’s satisfaction. Feedback:The trainees should be provided with feedback about their performance. If their performance is not upto the expected levels, then they should be told to improve their work. When they get regular & constructive feedback, it will help to improve their work. Practice:The company follows the proverb “practice makes a man perfect”. Skills that are practiced are better learnt and not easily forgotten. Therefore trainee should be allowed continuous practice to demonstrate knowledge and skills & let the trainee try them himself. Individual Considerations:All individuals do not have same aptitudes, backgrounds, education, experience, intellect, capabilities of understanding and interests. Their may be some people who are slow learners and may not be able to learn fast. Any training program adopted by the company should be in consideration with the above individuals. This is more important in case of supervisory training. Reinforcement:The principle of reinforcement tells the behaviours that are positively reinforced are encouraged and sustained.

Objectives: To Increase Productivity:Increase in human performance leads to increase in operational productivity and also increase in the profit of the company. To increase Quality :Good training program enables the employees to reduce the operational mistakes. It can be in relationship the company or intangible organisational assets
Personal growth:Training programs enables wider skills in every individual to gain exposure in educational expressions.
