Professional Workplace Dilemma
Ethical dilemmas arise within a company when personal values from society, family, religion and experiences do not align with the values of the company and their practices. This paper will go over an ethical dilemma that I faced while working for my current position. Along with describing the ethical dilemma I wall analyze the problem as well as analyze the outcome of the situation.
As an Enrollment counselor I am in charge of contacting current students in their Associates program and help them get registered for their Bachelor’s degree. This includes going over all of the admissions paperwork as well as completing all of the financial aid paperwork to get students into class. The ethical dilemma that I have witnessed with some of my co-works is not always telling the students everything about the program. The reason that some of the employees do not tell their students everything about the program is the simple fact that we are under pressure to get enrollments to increase the profits for the company.
Some of my co-works just do not understand how to ethically keep up with the pressures of profits and try to accomplish their goals unethically by omitting the cost of the program and then not disclosing what students are filling out when they are completing their student loan application. One of my co-workers in general would flat out tell them deceiving information to get students to complete the paperwork and get them into class. This is not something that is acceptable and should not be done.
This dilemma posed many different ethical issues for the management and person. This kind of practice is something that has to be addressed and should not be allowed no matter what you think or feel.
