For this assignment I was able to interview Mr. Rick Cole Jr. currently the Vice President for Athletics at Dowling College, he will take over as Athletic Director at Iona College on June 1st. Mr. Cole attended Buffalo State, where he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Education. He has been coaching juniors volleyball for more than 20 years and is currently Club Director and U-18 and U-17 Technical Director at Long Island Volleyball Academy.
While at Stony Brook he was in charge of setting up fundraisers to help fund the college’s transition from division III to division I. Mr. Cole believes that with great facilities, student-athletes will have more opportunities to better themselves, and it makes the University even more appealing to prospective athletes. When asked what his plan was going to Iona College he said that he would be evaluating the athletic program first to determine the needs for the University. While at Dowling College he was able to hire the right coaches that eventually led to the schools first national championship in men’s soccer. Along with this national championship...
