Experimenting with the Probability of Things We Do in Our Lives

Probability of Things I Do They’re many things in life that involve the uses of probability and it is apparent that it is used in everyone’s life today including myself. While people think math is irrelevant after graduation, statistics is heavily used especially in regards to probability. While people do many things, some of mine that deal with probability are playing a game of pool, as well as the probability of how many games our football team has a chance of winning, and another example would be the probability of me running in a week. When it comes to pool it can be a big game of luck at the start when you first break the balls because you have no idea which direction they are going to go. Although when breaking the balls in 8 ball, which there are 15 balls, I have a 1 and 15 shot of making the eight ball in on the first try, which would be a 6.67% chance of making it in, which is very unlikely to happen for a novice player. Now if you play the game of 9 ball, which has 9 balls, you have a 1 and 9 chance or 11.11% of sinking the 9 ball which is a little better chances but still very difficult. This is one reason why pool can be very difficult, but back to 8 ball, if you have already broke the rack and you want to be solids what is the probability that you will hit a solid and make a solid? There is a great chance of this happening and it comes out to a 7/14 of hitting and 7/14 making a solid, since there are 7 solids and 7 stripes a total of 14 not including the eight ball in this. So it would come out to a 7/14 times 7/14, which would give you a 25% chance of hitting AND making a solid ball in the game of eight ball. Another type of probability that I like to look at other than these three examples with pool is when it comes to the game of football and our football team.
