Should same sex marriage be legal? Well, this very same topic has roughly been going on for a series of years. Causing debates among the entire nation on whether to legalize or ban same sex marriages. Many argue that there is issue with same sex marriage. Same sex marriage is quite controversial, because it goes against social, moral and religious standards of varies individuals, however these claims can be disputed. Reasons for same sex marriage consist of universal human rights and the fact that it is not fair to deny marriage to people of different views. Same sex marriage should become legal, evidence proving this is seen through court cases and the faulty reasons to ban same sex marriage, in the articles from Newsweek by Theodore Olson and the Washington Post by Robert Mccartney, both stating why same sex marriage should be legalized.
Same sex marriage is seen as immoral or absurd. But, after the court case written in the Newsweek, The Conservative Case for Gay Marriage, by Theodore Olson, talked about how same sex marriage should be accepted other than rejected . This court case goes beyond same sex marriage, more importantly homosexuals individuals alike. Our nation should accept homosexuals as regular individuals, similar to anyone else. For example from the article in Newsweek, “it is a fact that gays and lesbians are members of our families, clubs, and workplaces. They are our doctors, our teachers, our soldiers, and our friends. They yearn for acceptance, stable relationships, and success in their lives, just like the rest of us” (Olson). This basically adds on to how homosexuals are simply human beings with a different belief on marriage. So why should we discriminate? There was also evidence proving that same sex marriage should be legal through the arguments in the court case.
