Nike is the largest footwear and the sportswear planet, present in about 140 countries. Its quality is based on the performance and reliability of shoes, apparel and equipment, development of new products, the price, the brand identity through marketing and communication actions, and in support of relations with consumers. The principal business activities involve research, design and product development and marketing.
Nike products are manufactured by third party companies, usually outside U.S. - except part of garments, which are also produced in the USA. The footwear products are designed primarily for athletes endorsed by Nike, only to be adapted to the general public who use them not only for physical activities, but mainly for everyday and leisure proposals.
The categories of footwear sales leaders are: running, basketball, child, cross-training and feminine. However, there are also segments: outdoor activities, tennis, golf, football, baseball, cycling, volleyball, wrestling, water activities, hiking and climbing, and other recreational activities. The area of sports clothing and accessories complements the line of footwear in various categories exposed.
