Prevention of Teen Suicide: Help Stop Unwanted Death!
Suicide prevention awareness is necessary today. Self-directed harmful behavior that would result death is called suicide. Ancient Greece history states that suicide was not wrong, but there had to be a reason for committing suicide. There were three expectations, “legally ordered by the state,” “for painful and incurable illness;” and when someone is “compelled to it by the occurrence of some intolerance misfortune” (A Brief History). There were two Greek philosophers, Democritus and Speusippus, they committed suicide, both were very ill, always had health problems but lived until the age of 90. Democritus said his “life became unbearable,” and Speusippus, believed that if his illness was incurable, then there was no reason to live, suicide took place (A Brief History). Suicide was forbidden in Ancient Rome. If one chose suicide it was considered dishonor (A Brief History). Anyone that committed suicide was not to have a christian burial, but to be buried, “at a busy crossroad (in order to confuse the spirit) pinned down by a wooden stake through the chest” (A Brief History). In The New Testament, Paul says, “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus had given me - the task of testifying to the Gospel of Gods grace” (Acts 20:24). Suicide became a moral sin to christianity in the fourth century A.D. Paul stated in Acts 20:24 that his life had no value, but he was saying that his life had no value, but he was saying that his life on earth had no value but he was gonna stay on earth to fulfill the assignments whom God gave him so that he would make it in the “Kingdom of God”. Another man from the Bible was named Samson, who brought the temple down on himself and the Philistines. The Philistines were mocking and laughing at “God” and Samson. He was called a hero after this event because he obeyed God, when he told him to bring down the temple (Flanders 5). In the article “Invitations to Teen-age Suicide in Music, Books and Movies,” it talks about a book called “Illusions” by: Richard Bach from 1979 was basically about; “If you didn’t like this life, end it and you’ll come back in another.”. Eighty-one year old, Will Rogers Jr. a famous country boy, most famous for his rope tricks and his 70 films that he made as an actor, a journalist and former Congressmen.
