Prevent Child Abuse America
Every year, nearly 1 million cases of child abuse are confirmed, not to mention the cases that go unnoticed or unreported. Of the reported cases, most are children 3 years of age or younger. There is another staggering truth, and that is that by the time today is over, 4 children will have died because their little bodies can no longer handle the abuse. (Guillaro, 2012) These facts are horrifying and need to be changed, that is the goal of Prevent Child Abuse America. This organization has created awareness and continues to support and encourages others to take on an active role in the prevention of child abuse and neglect nationwide. (Prevent Child Abuse America, 1995-2012) Child abuse is so detrimental to a community because Children who have been abused or neglected are 59% more likely to be arrested as juveniles and 30% more likely to commit a violent crime as an adult. (Guillaro, 2012) These facts show a pattern that needs to be broken if American youths are ever going to be helped.

The Prevent Child Abuse America organization started in 1995, but has since been growing. In the last 4 years the organization has expanded exponentially. This year especially the organization has increased its efforts to raise awareness, as the number of abused and neglected children also grows every year. In addition to raising awareness to stop abuse in households throughout the nation, the organization also serves to help parents by providing them with information and tips so that they don’t become guilty of neglect or abuse. The group’s goal is to stop abuse altogether and help families and communities become strong and safe again, creating strong healthy adults in the future. (Prevent Child Abuse America, 1995-2012)
