Prescription medication being one of them has been commercialized as a cure to the non-existent problems of modern day Americans, when in turn is only the downfall of their body, minds, and in whole…our society. A stand needs to be taken against the portrayal of legalized drugs in our country and the doctors and administrations enforcing them need to be opposed.
We have been instructed to assume that anything approved by the Food and Drug Administration is to ‘protect and promote your health’, when in true nature, they almost have no control over what is publicized and said about a prescription drug that could potentially have severe risks such as withdrawal effects and even death. (“Prescription Drug Advertising) Though, there are guidelines of what needs to be said about a drug, there are also loopholes just about anyone can cross; one of them being the word usage and the ability to use hard medical terminology that the general public cannot comprehend. The audience will only digest the attractive keywords given, and instantly come to the conclusion that their ‘symptoms’ may be an actual problem. (“Prescription Drug Advertising)
