Statement: “Teenage sexual activity is a major problem confronting the nation and has led to a rising incidence of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), emotional and psychological injuries, and out-of-wedlock childbearing thus teenage pregnancies and premarital sex occurrences alarm every sector in our society particularly the church and health institutions. Substantial studies had been conducted to support this scenario.” as stated by the author Marie Meneses. Meaning: The negative side effects of premarital sex. Through the journal its states the problem of participating in premarital sex such as STD, unwanted pregnancies, and emotional damage. It has been observe the increase of premarital sex has a direct effect on the incidence of reported STD cases. There has been a noted increase of cases of depression and psychological injuries especially on women. For people who aren’t practicing the use of contraceptives unwanted pregnancies are reported due to insufficient knowledge on sex education. Connection to our study: The significant of the journal to our studies is that it states the negative side effect on premarital sex such as STD, unwanted pregnancy, and physical & emotional injuries. This study focuses on the target group specifically the teenage sector which we are also performing a case study.
