ABSTRACT:
Online banking also called Internet banking can be defined as performing financial transactions over the Internet through a bank’s website. Online banking provides many advantages to consumers. Consumers can access data any time, anywhere irrespective of location and hours of operation of the bank. Customers are not the only beneficiary of this new service. Making use of online banking, commercial banks may greatly increase the market coverage and better track customers. Though it sounds like a win-win situation for both the parties still online banking is not that prevalent, in spite of the wide spread of personal computers and internet service.
A questionnaire will be utilized to survey approximately 225 people. We would like to have a representative sample from people of different race, age, gender, occupation, income group etc. Although Internet banking service is being offered to personal and business clients, in our research study, data will be collected from personal respondents only. Our research would have a significant contribution for the banks in streamlining their online banking customers. It would throw some light on the types of customers who bank online. So banks can focus their online marketing strategies on those customers.

In Freire’s essay “The Banking Concept of Education”, he discusses the importance of a student-teacher relationship and the issues of the educational system. The banking method signifies how teachers “fill” up their student’s minds with knowledge without any questions. This method, Frerie believes, limits the student’s capability to think for them-selves that leads for students to constantly rely on information from their teachers. Freire then proposed a solution for the banking concept called “problem-posing concept”, a method that challenges student’s mind when being educated. The problem-posing concept creates a communication between a student and the teacher, where they can both learn and challenge one another with a free thought.…

Paulo Freire says teachers are narrators that only feed students information. The students act like containers, turning into receptacles that the only way taught are by being filled with what the teachers tell them or narrates to them (Freire 1). This is why education suffers from narration sickness. Throughout the years many teachers around the world have been applying the “Banking concept” towards the way they teach their students; and in my perspective it is not the best way of implementing the kind of learning our children need in the future to help them succeed in life. Throughout my education teachers have expected me to memorize facts. They would narrate details without thinking about how the concepts of their teachings would relate to the real world. This “Banking Concept” prevents students from using their cognitive skills; therefore, they are not prepared to make clear decisions in the real world where as the problem- posing method offers a solution to this narration sickness.…

Paulo Freire states “knowledge is a gift bestowed by those who consider themselves knowledgeable upon those whom they consider to know nothing” (139). He claims that in The Banking Concept of Education, the teachers treat the students as a bank in which they deposit information into them and the students never really get to think critically about the information they are learning. This method was widely used during the first twelve years of my formal education. The banking concept of education has not been a beneficial way of learning for me since it inhibited my creativity and ability to reason due to the fact that I was deposited with information from the teacher and told to memorize facts without understanding its true meaning.…

The value proposition for online banking is to ensure customers how valuable and useful online banking can be for them. Customers who engage in online banking are able to constantly keep track of their spending, pay bills online, transfer money between accounts, and know where their money is going out and coming from. Although not mentioned here, with today’s advanced technology, a user of online banking has the ability to virtually bring their bank with them wherever they go with the use of smartphone apps. By heavily advertising the advantages of online banking—the time, convenience, and ease of using the product—customers may start to see the usefulness. The article states that some customers were reluctant to use online banking due to the belief that Internet security was low. Although this may seem like an issue that the bank has no control of, there are still things that could be done to reduce the fear; advertise why Dakota Bank’s online banking is secure, provide tips of how the customers can make their accounts as secure as they can possibly be, and provide them with information about what the bank will do to help and fix the situation would the unlikely event of online banking theft occur.…
