1. Introduction to PRSP:
The Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP)–II draws upon lessons learnt during the implementation of PRSP-I and takes into account recent political, economic and social events, both domestic and international, which have adverse impacts on Pakistan. To steer Pakistan back on the path of sustained and broad-based economic growth and to create jobs and reduce poverty, Pakistan requires a prolonged period of macroeconomic stability, financial discipline and consistently transparent policies that place poverty reduction at the centre of the country’s overall economic policies. PRSP II consists of the following nine pillars:

Pillar II: Protecting the Poor and the Vulnerable
Pillar III: Increasing Productivity and Value Addition in Agriculture
Pillar IV: Integrated Energy Development Programme
