Poverty

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is trying to make progress on the poverty issues made worse through the economic crisis.   The Act is fighting hunger by including a $20 billion increase for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance   Program (SNAP), also known as food stamps, and funding for food banks, as well as the programs for women, infants, and children (WIC).   Neighborhood Stabilization funds are also included in the Act to maintain nice neighborhoods.   1.5 billion is going towards Homeless Prevention Funds to keep the streets clean.   The Act increases job training by $3.95 billion for the Workforce Investment system.   This will provide job training for green jobs, summer jobs for young people, among other job opportunities.   The Act is also funding many other organizations to help eliminate the poverty crisis in America.   President Obama has always cared about helping out the poor.   Fresh out of college Obama worked as a community organizer in Chicago.   As President, his vision is to making all hard working Americans out of poverty and in the Middle class.   Obama want to expand opportunities by making work pay better, housing more affordable, and helping low income citizens train for better jobs in the workforce.   The economic crisis especially hit low income Americans hard, Obama is making sure they all have food on the table and a roof over there heads.   He is also committed to encouraging young boys with absent fathers to work towards good jobs and career paths.

Poverty is a huge problem in America, especially after the hard hit of the economic crisis.   Many Americans are struggling with money and job security.   Even worse than that, many Americans   are losing there homes and having trouble putting food on the table for there families.   I am glad that Obama is taking action and trying to conquer this problem.   I believe that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is a step in the right direction.   By increasing the funding for...
