This semester in EN101A I was kind of scared because I moved up from EN001 to EN101A and did not know what to expect from my professor. I learned that one of my weaknesses in writing an essay was my organization skills. My professor told me that the concept of the essay was good but my organization was not quiet good. When I write an essay I usually write what I am thinking or know and turn it into an essay which now I realize it does not help. But after my professor showed the class how to first plan your essay it helped a lot. So every time I am about to write my essay I first do a plan and organize my thought and words. And since I did not get red marks on my paper saying "need to organize essay".
I also learned my weakness in a lot of my errors and grammar. When we got out first essay back on "Poverty" I look on my paper it had red pen marks all over my paper, my teacher told me that the essay is great but I had a lot of major errors on my paper. I realized that I really need to read my paper before I hand it in and that I had to make sure everything makes sense. But my professor helped me also improved by having other member in my class read our paper before we turned it in. I found that to be very helpful, because I can get a different point of view from a student who is writing almost the same thing I writing about.
Even though I disliked English in high school and was having problems with essays, EN101A showed me how to improve my grammar and organization skills. Without my professor helping me step by step with forming an essay I would not succeed in... [continues]
