Positivity: The Way to Live
“Be positive,” is a general phrase that lacks the significance of the rebound of its opposite belief. It sounds simple, obvious, and trite when realistically, it is not as widely lived by as it generally seems. In my life, however; it is not only a belief of mine, but also an ultimate goal. I believe that happiness is what we are all meant to strive for in life and we are expected, and sometimes even forced, to take part in unpleasant situations to hopefully achieve it. Whether they are tragic or simply small annoyances, we as humans are bound to experience many misfortunes in our lifetimes. That said, I think that we should always try to take on a positive attitude toward things and remind ourselves that there is hope for serenity in the end. However, it appears to me daily that many people live their lives with negative mindsets, almost as if there is no point to anything that they do. Any suggestion, errand, or event is simply a burden to them and it is clear that their attitude toward life has left them in miserable spirits. This negativity, or pessimism is easily not the right way to live life for many reasons.
When we allow ourselves to think negatively, we damage our potential in many ways. We may be so wrapped up in our own negativity that we cannot see any way out. Negative thoughts will distract our focus from what’s important and in the end, we will no longer have any motivation for success. If we give attention to negative thoughts, they will become stronger and stronger and what seemed like a small matter in the beginning may become monstrous in the end. Many people fail to see negative occurrences as learning experiences and continue to feel like helpless victims. Instead of recognizing the misfortune and moving on, they dwell over it and eventually begin to emotionally drain themselves.
