Political Ideology: Liberal

I presume that I must be a liberal because I tend to see political issues in democracy as a constant advocacy to promote change. While other ideologies tend to be more ordered and conformed; either afraid or skeptical of governmental involvement; liberalism gives a sense of meaning when it comes to 1 of this country’s greatest values, “liberty for all”.   This is the way liberalism is intended to be; for government to be involved proactively in the decisions of the whole and not just the acts of higher office. A way for the common man to band together and make decisions as an accumulative; both government and state, to improve matters of education, welfare, civil rights and other strong social issues that need a change.

When I speak of change; I'm referring to the need of the many, not the few. New policies and ideas, cultural diversity, and the constant seesaw of national and world economic power create displacement in the ebb and flow of societal structure and we need solutions to counteract these gaps that separate our polices.   Inevitably our government has to change just to keep up with the growth of our modern day world.

The recent inauguration of president Obama has well past the understanding that we have risen to a more democratic nation, we see that the values of liberalism are at its strongest when we find ourselves in economic strife; when we conserve our resources because of fear of their depletion; and when we cry for a change when the poor are ignored by the wealthy.
I believe that having a liberal structure of government should create a positive action to reduce poverty by balancing income from wealthier people to the population that is poor; which is a very large population today and will continue to grow of we don’t take the action to change the way we regulate the economy of our nation.
