In this paper I will be discussing the policy and procedures at my husband workplace at the Tennessee Valley Juvenile Detention Center which is owned by ElyJenn of North West Alabama, LLC. My Husband has worked as a Juvenile Officer for this company for over four years now. There are six different categories in the policy and procedures of this company, but I will only discuss three of them. Then we will discuss how these comply with the EEOC regulations. We will also discuss how this company has maintained and complied with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Finally we will look at the three policies, procedures or standards, discuss the guidelines and how effective they are at meeting the needs of this organization.
The first category is the employment which entitles people to be employed with TVJDC regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, citizenship, age, handicap, disability, veteran status or other protective characteristics. This company follows the regulations of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 when hiring employees. They must complete at I9 form and must provide Identification, such as a driver’s license, green card, etc. These ID’s must be given to the company within three days of starting work or they may not be able to work there. All employees, other than those who have a fixed contract for a period of time, are at will employees. Employees will have a 90 day training period and during this training period the company will look at your abilities, skills, capabilities and suitability for the company’s needs. The employment classifications that this company has are exempt employees, non-exempt employees. Full-time employees that work more than 32 hours per week which qualify for full health and dental benefits, vacation pay, sick pay, overtime pay and 401k plans. Part-time employees that work less than
