Factors to look for when purchasing a Plasma or an LCD TV

The cathode ray tube (CRT) has had major changes over years, from the small black and white television that not many people had at their homes, to the current flat screen televisions that everyone needs to have today. The screen sizes have changed over the years as well; people now have the ability to choose a television with screen sizes from 19 inches to 103 and more. The question that many consumers ask their selves when purchasing a TV is whether to buy a plasma TV or an LCD TV. Before making that choice there are many things that need to be considered: screen size, picture quality and the amount of energy it will require for the televisions to operate correctly and most importantly the price.

When someone is considering, purchasing a television their main attention is on the price. When looking at the television sets, the Plasma TVs have a tendency to cost a little less than then the LCD TVs of similar sizes. Between the two televisions there can be a difference in price from 200 to 500 dollars. According to Lincoln Spector an important factor for this value difference is serious competition and the struggle for sales between Plasma and LCD TVs, which has Plasma producers feeling a lot of pressure (2009). Even though the Plasma television is inexpensive the varieties to choose from are limited to LG, Panasonic, Samsung and Sanyo. The LCD TV is manufactured by many of those companies and many secondary brands as well, so even though they are more expensive the costumer has a variety from which to choose. Another feature to consider when searching for the perfect television set would be the picture quality. Consumer Reports conducted tests and came to a conclusion that the color saturation on Plasma sets are better than LCD TVs while displaying excellent details on fast motions. When...
