Throughout this course I have learned a lot about global health and how the world is affected every day. My original proposal was that education and awareness about global health needed to be expanded. I think it is very important for people to know how to protect themselves from disease. I wouldn’t change my original proposal about global health, but I would modify it. In my original proposal, I kept my idea about educating the world about health only, throughout the course I have learned a lot about culture, and ways that diseases are spread. I would change my proposal in such a way and say that it is important to educate and spread awareness about the disease, culture, and prevention. Culture is the way people feel towards dealing with illness and disease (Arizona State University Lecture on Culture and Disease module 6). They may not believe in certain treatments or methods. It is important for people to be educated about culture because each and every person feels differently and had different beliefs. Another important thing people should be educated about is epidemiology of diseases. Not only do people need to know how to prevent disease, but they should also be informed on mortality rate, incidence, and prevalence (Arizona State University Lecture on Epidemiology). Overall, I stick by my original proposal and feel that awareness and education is top priority. There are a few weaknesses and limitations to my proposal. First of all, I think my proposal was too general and I should have included what I think people need to be educated on. Another thing I could have elaborated on is how people could be educated or ways that awareness could be spread. In each country, the ways people are educated are different because of certain limitations such as finances or resources.
