Cellular Respiration is the process that allows organisms to use the energy stored in glucose. Photosynthesis the process by which plants, bacteria and some fungi that use energy from sunlight to produce sugar. These two have similarities and differences, too. Cellular respiration is what the plants need and photosynthesis is what the organisms or the animals need. Photosynthesis has many facts to learn about. Cellular respiration has a lot of facts, as well. Cellular respiration and photosynthesis have a lot of differences. They both have processes.

Cellular respiration and photosynthesis are kind of like the opposite. The plants need what the animals let out and the animals need what the plants let out. The photosynthesis equation is 6Co2 +12H2O C6H12O6+ 6O2+ 6H2o. Cellular Respiration equation is C6H12O6 + 6O2 - 6H2o + ATP. According to the equations, this proves that the plants and the animals have to use what each other’s waste. ATP is a high-energized molecule. Photosynthesis takes in carbon dioxide from the animals and cellular respiration takes in the oxygen from the plants.

Energy in glucose is first used to produce ATP, which the cells use to supply energy needs. It also occurs in the mitochondria or in the “Power House”. The mitochondrion is an organelle found in most cells. It also processes of respiration and energy production. Cellular respiration produces the most energy or ATP. Respiration is process when the mitochondrion breaks down glucose to produce ATP. It has an irregular shape.

Photosynthesis is the process by which plants, some bacteria, and some fungi use energy from sunlight to produce sugar. Light reactions convert light energy into ATP. Dark reactions convert ATP into glucose. Chloroplast is an plant organelle where photosynthesis occurs. Different pigments give plants it color such as chlorophyll, which means green. Chlorophyll absorbs and transfers light energy. It also absorbs red and blue light and reflects green. From the sunlight, green plants combine carbon dioxide and water to make sugar and oxygen. It is a box-like shape.

There are a lot of differences between photosynthesis and cellular respiration. Photosynthesis requires energy and Cellular Respiration releases energy. Photosynthesis can only occur in presence of sunlight and respiration occurs all the time. In photosynthesis, carbon dioxide and water combine in presence of sunlight to produce glucose. In cellular respiration, glucose is broken down into water and carbon dioxide. The reactants are different from both of the equations. Photosynthesis occurs in plants, algae and some bacteria. Cellular respiration occurs in all living organisms. The main function of photosynthesis is the production of food and capturing energy. The main function of the cellular respiration is the breakdown of food and releasing energy.

But there can be a lot of similarities for cellular respiration and photosynthesis. In the mitochondria and the chloroplast both contain DNA and ribosomes. Cellular respiration and photosynthesis both create ATP or high-energized molecules. Cellular respiration does not exist without photosynthesis or vice versa. They both take place at some point within an organelle. They also both provide power for cellular respiration. Both of the reactions transform energy in some way either releasing them or storing them. The structures of the mitochondria and chloroplasts are both oval shaped. They also have outer and inner membranes.
