It is important to know the Philippine territory so you will know how large the Philippines is, all the islands and waters of the Philippines. You need to know this because people can not call you a Filipino if you don’t even know your own territory. This is also important to avoid conflicts with other countries because you may be fighting for some piece of land that is yours ‘cause you don’t know what’s yours and what’s theirs. If you were the president and you did not know that the KIG (Kalayaan Island Group) was part of the Philippine territory, then everyone won’t take you seriously.

It is important to learn the vicinal location of the Philippines because knowing the countries or areas around us are important for our economy. If we know the countries around we may be able to make them allies. This way, if some on attacks us, we may be able to convince them to help us. In other words, it strengthens our relations with other countries. In economy, knowing the places that surround us means we can trade or sell with them. It helps improve our national trade an commerce.

Yes, the air above our country is also part of our territory. Since it is above us then it belongs to us because we are inhabiting the area under it.

EEZ stands for Exclusive Economic Zone. On June 11, 1978, Marcos issued Presidential Decree 1599. Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) is a seazone over which a state has special rights over the exploration and use of marine resources. It stretches from the seaward edge of the state's territorial sea out to 200 nautical miles from its coast or from the outermost point of its outermost islands.

EEZ is an important factor in helping our economy. The EEZ gives the Philippines access to the sea which is important for fishing. Pelagic, or deep sea, fish are an important resource for sustenance and trade. Also, there are many other resources in the sea which may be of use to the traders that come here.
