Phil works for a Pittsburg news channel and he is the meteorologist, he is self-absorbed and arrogant.
He gets stuck in the day February 2, the day keeps on repeating itself.
The special word is February 2; Phil already knows what is going to happen that day so he uses all that in his advantage. He also does whatever he wants because he knows that the following day none of that would have consequences, as he is going to wake up on February 2 again.
His allies are everyone he basically meets that day and his antagonist would be Rita, because no matter what he did he couldn’t be with her until the end.
His call to adventure is delivered when he wakes up and realizes he is on the same day as yesterday. He is reminded he is in the same day by the radio station, which wakes him up in the morning.
  * Phil goes to a small town to report on the Groundhog Day.
  * He is captured on that day for weeks; he doesn’t know how to escape.
  * Phil starts becoming a good man and caring for others which make the town people highly esteem him, Rita sees that and falls in love with Phil. They go to sleep together and the next day is no longer February 2.
He never knows what should he do to win, but he decides to become in a better person and uses his knowledge of that day to help people.
Yes, he wins, he becomes loved and highly esteem by everyone in the town, he becomes a better man and Rita falls for him and the next day is February 3.
Phil starts as an arrogant self-centered weatherman. He gets stuck on the same day and he begins behaving like a child because he knows the next day everything would be forgotten. He then realizes that he may stay in that day forever and that the image that Rita has on him is a bad one. He starts caring for people and helping them using his knowledge of that day.
