The web-based application LinkedIn, founded and developed in 2002 by Reid Hoffman (formerly a board member of the company PayPal), is essentially a social networking tool for businesses and individual use that promotes professional networking. Once a user creates a profile, sort of like they would on Facebook, filing out any information they would like to share, they are now able to search and connect with other users whom they might know personally or have had a professional relationship with. Doing so grows those users “connections” which sort of follows a “six degrees of separation” logic: essentially that everybody is somehow connected through 6 people at most. This then creates a network of professionals and in turn promotes business and career opportunities. Users are able to view other users work/employment history, resumes, websites, etc. Fortune 500 companies have created company profiles on LinkedIn for promotion, advertising and even acquisitioning new talent for their company. The company…

Many of the human service professionals that I have had personal contact with since moving to the state of Montana are Phoenix Alumni and have their own profile on LinkedIn. This is a way that I could keep up-to-date on how they are progressing in their careers or if they have become a former employee of the organization they work with. This will help to know what is happening in this field within the organizations, such as if they are not performing to the missions.…

A few articles I found were written about how my Students In Action team lead Blaine High School to 2nd Place Gold Banner. And if I wanted to find a snippet of the articles about the Students In Action Gold Banner, I would have to at least go to the seventh page or even farther than that. Also, I had to read the brief description underneath each link to see if it actually has something to do with me. I found my LinkedIn on the first page under the link that said, "Top 20 Pachia Xiong profiles | LinkedIn." When opening up the link, my name was the first few 20, and it had…

I chose to use LinkedIn. The web address is http://www.linkedin.com. I selected this organization because I have seen it successfully used firsthand and was very impressed with the expansiveness of the website. The ability to network with past co-workers, present co-workers and even talk to people who could give a good word about you really impressed me. A lot of the time, word of mouth about you makes a big difference. I was also given assurance I chose the right platform at a dinner recently, when a lady told me she used LinkedIn to find new employees. Creating a professional online appearance lets employers know you are there and you are serious about getting your degree and wanting to get the word out there that you want to work for them. I think it’s an important to get your face out there, so to speak. With LinkedIn, you’re able to not only actually and literally get your face out there, you can network with people who are interested in what you…

I believe that authority can be used very well in school and the workforce as one continues to gain experience and knowledge. As I continue to gain experience with programming I can network with my peers, gaining references I can use whenever I or someone else is in need of work. As presented to us in the video Science of Persuasion by Cialdini, D, and Martin, S customer confidence is boosted when having a friend or assistant present credentials, accomplishments, or experience prior to speaking to them. This could be incredibly useful since I could create connections now in a learning environment and if someone has a problem I could be referenced to help connecting with another element of persuasion reciprocity.…
