Personality Assessment can be measure by using four methods that are very different. These methods are known as the personal interview, direct observation of behavior, objective tests, and projective tests. The personal interview is when questions are asked. The question may be fixed or randomly chosen. Direct observation of behavior is observing a person behavior over a period of time to determine the environmental influence on that person’s behavior. Objective tests are given and scored according to standardized procedures. These tests include Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire, the NEO-PI-R, and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory. Projective tests are test which consist of ambiguous stimuli that can draw out an unlimited number of responses and are thought to tap the unconscious. These tests consist of the Rorschach test, and the Thematic Apperception Test. Personality assessments and personality theories corresponds in many different ways. There are four methods use to measure personality assessments, and there are also four types of theories that are used to evaluate the human personality. These theories consist of the psychodynamic, humanistic, trait, and cognitive social theories. Psychodynamic is personality theories opposing that behavior results from psychological forces that interact within the individual, often outside conscious awareness. Humanistic personality theory emphasizes that one is positively motivated and progress toward higher levels of functioning. Personality theory is dimensions or characteristics on or in which people differ in distinctive ways. Cognitive social theories view behavior as the product of the interaction of cognitions, learning and past experiences, and the immediate environment.
