2009 Ford Motor Company CHLI Leadership Progrram

Personal Statement:
There is never an exact way to express one’s lifestyle as being completely unproblematic and if you don’t then you must be lying to some degree. I am a left, below the knee amputee and since been from the age of 3. Ever since the final year of high school I’ve required more and more home schooling and recuperation from physical wounds on my leg. Until a recent surgical procedure allowed me to utilize more exertion in my leg without the detriment effects of developing wounds. Other than that I am a pretty average person who loves to be active and involved.
My father has a hand full of titles; for he is a landlord, a certified teacher, immigration and notary service employer, and most recently a process server. My mother is a registered nurse specialized in neonatal care and has been doing so since her immigration into the U.S. back in 1973. My younger brother was diagnosed with Autistic Down Syndrome since birth, but not once have I considered him different then any other typical individual in having similar interest, character, and moral views and there for we treat each other like any other brother would treat each other. My family has had many troubles over the years when dealing with the worries and decisions pertaining to my younger brother and myself. Many of which were about financial struggles, medical, and other concerns that may have placed a strenuous lean on my parents lives. Of course my parents have always assured me that my brother and I are of no fault to the condition of their relationship.
Since 2005 my family has been divorced with my mother and brother living together in a separate home across town, my father managing our original home and me living my own life in an apartment with close acquaintances. In some odd way my family still works and I feel closer to my parents now then we lived with each other. My mother has always wanted... [continues]
