PERSONAL STATEMENT

I received my first colouring box at the age of 3, since then my fascination with arts has known no bounds. As years progressed my love for colours increased and in addition I have developed a keen interest in art and designing.

At the age of 13 my family shifted to a new home and that’s when I practiced my arts and interior designing skills. How? I chose the colour of my room walls, which curtains would go with them, what kind of furniture I wanted and where to be placed.

The desire to know how arts is practiced in the real world has convinced me to look into the bachelors of arts in interior designing career. My particular interest lies in interior designing of a house and furniture designing. In Kenya we have a wide range of furniture business and I believe this program will help our business flourish.

Currently Kenya is also experiencing an economic boom with a lot of ongoing development, new industries and buildings are constructed everywhere and there is a great demand of people with interior designing skills. I hope to get involved in this economic boom after finishing my studies and getting my degree as in bachelors of Arts in interior designing.
Studying the Kenya Secondary National Examination (K.C.S.E) syllabus has been very eventful. I was involved in a number of service activities where we invited the less fortunate or disabled children from poorer neighbor hoods to our school and facilitated their use of our school equipment which they would otherwise have no access to. I also took part in some deworming programs in one of the local villages in order to allow the children to experience a better quality of life. All these experience have greatly influenced the way in which I view the world around me as I realized how good and easy my life was compared to that of these children.
