Personal Responsibility
Personal responsibility is a key factor in every area of my life. I support this claim after researching the issue. Understanding personal responsibility will play an important role in academic success. The definition of personal responsibility is someone taking responsibility for their actions and the consequences that come from those actions. I use personal responsibility on the job, in my family life, in developing strong relationships, and in being successful in my individual studies. I believe when individuals or groups of people do not practice personal responsibility it makes the person or group weaker and can have negative consequences they may not realize until the future.
Managing responsibility
There are many ways to use personal responsibility such as managing time to make it to class and getting assignments turned in on time. Individuals may use it to avoid neglecting other responsibility’s while in school such as, time with family, friends, and job. Personal responsibility to me is acknowledging responsibility for actions and decisions made, accepting the consequences that may follow from them, and understanding that others around will be involved. Every day choices or decisions are made from experiences taught or from experiences learned. The only choices people want to be responsible for are the decisions considered honorable or right. People also make bad decisions but do not want to be accountable for them. In life the choices made will guide the way people live whether responsible or irresponsible. Only be responsible for he/she decisions. As noted by Ron Haskins (2009), “Personal responsibility is the willingness to both accept the importance of standards that society establishes for individual behavior and to make strenuous personal efforts to live by those standards. But personal responsibility also means that when individuals fail to meet expected standards, they do not look around for some factor outside themselves to blame.”…

In the weeks leading up to this easy, I started to see how unreasonable I was towards my school work. With twenty four hours in the day, I was having a huge problem with using that time wisely. Procrastination is my down fall, looking at an assignment, thinking oh I have plenty of time to get this done. I found out I was sorely mistaken. Personal responsibility should be taking accountability for my own actions, and doing everything within my power to complete my goal. There are many things in my life that can come between me, and my school work. Things that I let get in the way would be, my fifty hour work week, my family, and my military service. All of these are very important to me, but at the same time finishing collage is equally important. There are lots of other things in life that can get in the way as well, but looking at the consequences help stay focused on what is important.…
