Personal Responsibility and Success

Even though sometimes taking on too much responsibility may cause a rift in the team environment. If you do not have a since of personal responsibility it is almost impossible to become successful in life. You must accept your responsibilities because no one will do it for you. To succeed in life one must accept personal responsibility for themselves. Being responsible means we will do the right thing even though we are alone. We do the right thing because we think it is right and for no other reason. According to Lazare (2005), personal responsibility normally refers to accepting responsibility for your own actions. If you did not have time to turn in your class assignment and instead of blaming others for the reason it was not done you accept the responsibility for not scheduling the proper amount of time to have it completed. You must take on your responsibilities yourself because no one will do it for you. We all need to take on our own responsibilities and not be afraid to rise to our true potentials. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually who are you not to be? As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others “(Collins, 190-191). "A sign of wisdom and maturity is when you come to terms with the realization that your decisions cause your rewards and consequences. You are responsible for your life, and your ultimate success depends on the choices you make. (Henrik Edberg)” Without a since of personal responsibility how are you going to accomplish your goals? The same is true with the relationship between Personal responsibility and college success. You must take on the responsibility yourself.
