Psychology was never offered as a class at my high school, and all that I know about Psychology I learned from my mother. I built up the guts and courage and emailed Professor McIntyre and asked her if she would be willing to meet with me. She was delighted to meet with me, but could only interview over the phone because she needed to be home with her new baby girl. I would like…

Where I wanted to go to college, was a question that loomed over my head for most junior year and the summer before senior year. Deciding where you want to go to college is a major milestone decision, one which I carefully thought over. I knew I wanted to attend a liberal arts college, because I believe the mind is a garden that requires cultivation. I knew I wanted to be in an environment that really pushed me to think conceptually and without censor. When Brandeis University, in Waltham, Massachusetts, came up in my college search, I was immediately intrigued. Brandeis has a long history of promoting social justice and giving back to the community, so I was delighted when I got my acceptance letter in February!…

During my sophomore year, a senior came to me at Tutoring Society to get tutored in math. She would come to me almost every day. And just like many others I tutor, I started to get to know her better. She came from an underprivileged background and worked an evening shift at our local food store to support her family. However, this had not deterred her from participating on the cheerleading team. One day, she had to leave five minutes early to cheer at an away game. A few weeks later, she rushed out the main doors after the tutoring session to take over her friend’s shift at work. Despite her part time job and cheerleading practices, she still worked hard to pass high school and her least favorite class: math.…

I was lucky enough to attend an extremely privileged private prep high school on the main line, and coming to Temple University was definitely a culture shock for me. It is not so much the urban environment, as it is the diverse student body that I am exposed to every day in my classes. Temple has given me the opportunity to take classes like Kids in Crisis that serve to shed light on difficult topics like racism, discrimination, and privilege that I was never exposed to at my high school, and for that, I am eternally grateful.…

During the summer I was able to lead a group of incoming freshman and enhance their confidence towards their first year of high school. Before I led the group of underclassmen, I had a two day training in how to become a great leader and know how to express my skills. As a leader, I showed many skills such as communication, leadership, and patience. I served as a mentor to these fifteen freshman by giving them advice and encouraging them to get involved. I played activities with them which represented challenges which will be faced through high school as well as lessons which boosted their confidence to communicate with each other. For instance, the game team juggling they had to attempt to juggle countless paper balls which represented how busy high school will be with new challenges and responsibilities.…

At that time, Bieber hadn’t been convicted for the egging. But, drawing from immigration law and his existing criminal record, Business Insider concluded that “a more than one-year sentence… could technically” jeopardize Bieber’s visa. I did an interview with a second grade teacher this week and decisions that she had to make. When I was asking her some of the question it was hard for her to answer because she thought she didn’t have any decisions she had to make. It was like it was so easy for her to do everything. So one of the questions I had to ask what are some examples of typical, quick decisions she had to make on a daily basis. She had a confused face and she had to think hard and she told me extra time on skills and the students behavior if they got into trouble they had to go to the office. The second one I asked her was what were five most difficult school-related decisions that she had to make this week and what made them difficult. The first one was students find out which students needs there RTI. Find out want they need to work on and want was there level they were at. RTI is Response to Intervention. It’s a program they have at the school to help students that cannot learn fast and having trouble understands their work. Then she had to think about some more and then she said finding time for differentiated Instruction and getting materials together. Some times its very hard to get everything that you need for the class to teaching and make sure you have everything and don’t forget anything when you have the students in the classroom she said sometimes she haves to do it when she takes the students to P.E. when she haves to start a new science curriculum-getting all the materials and the reviewing for the lessons can be hard to if she don’t have want she needs too. When she haves to find time to plan a lesion she haves to do that when the students go to lunch or…
