Today, there are more kids getting into trouble. When I was growing up, it was a bad thing if you got into mischief, especially if you were known for that. Today, it’s different. Somehow they made it cool to be a bad girl or bad boy. I mean, there is a show called “The Bad Girls Club” on the Oxygen channel. The world is different. Some kids need to go through situations in this manner to learn the hard way. Sometimes, it doesn’t work that way and the kid ends up in a negative path for the most part of his or her life. The key is if they can learn from their mistakes and that can make them a better person in this crazy world. When I was a kid trouble made me figure out at an early age which path I want to travel on in my life. My parents, teachers, friends and family member stepped in and guided me in the correct path and I thank them today for their input but not every kid had the same support system.
In regards to being the parent of a 16-year old boy in this situation, coming home, finding the door ajar, then walking in and seeing the friend looking through my kitchen cabinets with my jewelry laid out on the counter. Well, we would have a huge problem to begin with at this point. By the boy smelling of marijuana would upset me even more because I would assume that he is high. In the syllabus, it states in this scenario I would tell the boy to leave and he immediately does. Well, that is not really how it would have gone down but I will comply with the assignment. I will put on my Criminal Justice hat and use my tools that I have learned. I am not a father so I don’t have any experience on any situations but I will give it my best shot. If I am the father, I would want to have a sit down talk with my son. I want to pick his brain and ask him what all he knows about this boy that had his mother jewelry in his possession.
