Executive summary

As is known to all, a company’s outcomes are largely relative to employees’ performance. In this condition, performance management as an important part of business management is implemented by all of the companies. However, only suitable performance management system may help the company to increase its outcomes. In this condition, it is necessary for a company to catch points of the six steps of performance management, and establish a system which properly for its development.

In the first place, the report discussed whether the six links mentioned in the text is presented and in what form in the case. In the second place, it discussed the feasible methods to fix each of the disrupted links.

From discussion it is found that in order to achieve a high achievement, the company should put emphasis on performance development. By the way, there is no fixed model for performance management. An excellent company may establish a, integrated system which is suitable for its business, human resources and strategic target. In this condition, it is necessary for a company to consider its situation carefully, and catch the point of each step to establish its performance management system. By the way, continuing development of the system is the support for a long term development.

1.0 Introduction

Human resources management is an important part of business management, and performance management is a significant part of HRM. Performance management is a kind of management method which is used to achieve organization goals. The main way of this method is to help and motivate employees to achieve excellent performance. In this condition, many companies spend a lot of energy to build their performance management system and hope to achieve good results, but a part of them do not master the correct method, so performance management was not put into good use. This report aims to review and evaluate a case of performance management process. This case happened in Omega, Inc. It is a small manufacturing company. This company wanted to have control over its sales representatives. So it took several steps to implement its performance management. This report will firstly discuss whether the six links mentioned in the text is presented and in what form in the case, and it will discuss the feasible methods to fix each of the disrupted links.

2.0 Discussion of the six links

2.1 Prerequisites to performance planning

Generally speaking, if a company wants to develop a successful performance management system, it should understand the organization’s mission and strategic goals firstly. By the way, it should also get to know the tasks, the manner for finishing the job and KSAs which are needed. (Baye, M. 2009) Performance plan is a process. In the process, be evaluated and the evaluator communicate the performance which should be implemented by the employees with each other, and then make the results of communication into performance planning and evaluation sheet.
