People Learn from a Variety of Sources
People learn from a variety of sources
People learn from a variety of sources, why? It is because the sometimes people can’t find everything they need in just one source. For example, people will not always learn cook by the paper recipe, when my mom want to cook something, but didn’t know how to, she search it up on the internet. Then, she will cook me some delicious Chinese food. She just learned from the internet which is a different source than the cooking book.
Not only will my parent learn from a variety of sources, everyone will. A student, in a state of no internet and books, wants to finish his homework. He is worried because the homework is due in 15min. He is so depressed that he is going to cry. Suddenly, one of his classmates who are a genius at the subject appeared in front of him, and offered help. The student who needs the help has no idea how did this genius classmate get here, but he accepted his help. Later, this student completely mastered the subject, and finished his homework. The student just learned from his classmate which is a different source than his text book.
Two weeks flew away really fast, the student get another project. This project requires the student to find the family tree of his family. The teacher said that missing one of the information of the family member will lose lots of marks. The student went home, and asked his dad for help. His dad told him everything he knows of the family members. However, the student is not satisfied; he thinks that the information isn’t enough. He really wants to work hard and get a great mark. His mom came in and said there is some old document in the attic. The student went up the dusty and dirty attic. He saw some spider web on the corner of the attic and a big box under the spider web. He opened the old box, he found all sorts of document about his family tree. He is so happy because everything the teacher asks for is on the document. He just learned something through the document

My grandparents and family talked to me about education. My dad told me a story about an elder who was very proud of his new toolbox filled with tools. Every day his children would ask to use the tools in his box and he said: "No, not today, I am saving these for a special occasion." As his children grew older they continued to ask for the tools but again he said: "these tools were being saved for the right occasion." Finally the children gave up asking for the tools. One day many years later, the grandfather thought that it was time to open the box of tools and use them. As he opened the box, with children and now grandchildren looking on, he saw that the tools were rusty. He picked up the wrench but it crumbled in his hands.…

Other than school, TV, internet and other people, we learn from many different resources. For instance, myself, I learned something from a relationship. I was 15 when I met him. It happened all of a sudden. I was new to school. He invited me to his Birthday party. The evening at his house was amazing. We talked a lot and danced together. I believe that I had left a good first impression on him, because on the next day, he invited me out to a movie. It was a morning show. The darkness in the hall was electrifying with him next to me. Later when he sent me home, we kissed in the elevator. It felt good.…

My first quarter of college life has been an experience that has taught me several vital lessons. The combination of classes, clubs, and other activities has forced me to use time wisely while managing a busy schedule. As my academic life at college will continue to become increasingly difficult, I believe now is the time to become serious about my education. I have found that there exist ideas, mindsets, and other factors that help in the motivation and success of learning. In addition, there are infinite ways in which I can educate myself through diverse learning styles. Through events and activities of the IGE 120 class, I have attained an increased understanding of different and unexpected learning techniques which exist in education. The books and articles which I have had the opportunity to analyze in this class have each shared new and unanticipated concepts. These ideas have often times pertained to how I learn as both a student in the classroom and as a young adult in the world. I believe it is important to work hard in school for the purpose of learning new ideas and becoming educated and not just for getting good grades. I also believe that it is important that I do not take myself too seriously, because I will undoubtedly make mistakes. Open communication between the teacher and myself is vital for all the different situations and techniques of education. My educational success lies in my ability to hold a healthy mindset towards education, communicate with my professors, and have a firm understanding of my own learning style.…

Throughout this past semester, Focused Inquiry has opened my eyes to the significance of one’s individual learning style and consequentially helped me to develop my skills as a communicator, critical thinker, and ethical reasoner. Various in-class and out-of-class activities contributed to the development of these said skills, however there are three particular assignments that I feel were most influential in the process. The first paper we were assigned to write was to be based on a personally significant learning experience. To prepare ourselves for this out-of-class assignment, we did a sort of “guided meditation” in class to help us organize our thoughts. During this meditation, Our professor instructed us to close our eyes and recall as much as possible from a significant past learning experience. She coaxed us to recall the hardly recognized and seemingly insignificant details of the situation we were reminiscing such as "what do you feel beneath your feet?", and "who is / isn't speaking?". After the meditation, we proceeded to creatively write about that said experience in our journals. Because this exercise encouraged me to slow down my thought processes, I was able to recall more of those "insignificant" details that I wouldn't have recognized initially. Consequentially, with the thoughts and sensations still fresh in my mind, I was able to speedily and precisely put them into words. Being able to do so dramatically complimented my writing style, with which I generally include various (and occasionally excessive) details and adjectives. I also noted that I seemed to do less "going back" and "crossing out" given my recollective sensations were still fresh in mind. This exercise opened my eyes to the significance of my learning style. I had never use this meditation technique prior to writing a paper and by doing so, I came to understand that it did wonders for my writing and kinesthetic learning style.…

    1) For this project I used my god son (Trey), his sister (Kyla), and two of their friends (Kaylee and Nick). They are all 9th grade students at Russellville Junior High School in Russellville, Arkansas. Trey, Kaylee, and Nick are all 14 years old, while Kyla is the oldest at 15 years old. This project took place at Trey and Kyla’s home in Russellville, Arkansas, at the kitchen table where they study. I was not very sure about Kaylee and Nick’s educational background, but Trey and Kyla are honor roll students at the Junior High. It might be because of the fact that their parents will not let them play video games or participate in any extracurricular activities if they fail to keep their grades up.…

According to Royce (1961) man has many activities which are of many different kinds. He believed that man’s operations include some which are distinctly physical, and some which are distinctly psychological. That is, man has external behaviour experiences and functions, as well as conscious experiences and functions. As a result of that, man is forced to learn to develop, adapt, and sustain the operations of these functions. So what are these functions and what role does learning plays in nurturing and developing these operations?…

There are a lot ways on how we learn, our parents, friends, teachers, professors, employers and co-workers are all there to teach us. Learning is not only exclusive inside the classroom or in school. We even learn most in our daily experiences. But is it more effective or best to give focus on the positive actions and ignoring the negative ones? I believe that giving focus or attention to negative ones is as important as giving focus on the positive ones.…

General patterns and particular examples give us knowledge but is it not the only way. You can not say that the only way a person will gain knowledge is if they learn about something that they are already familiar with. That is incorrect. Particular examples and General patterns might enhance the amount of knowledge gained and understanding but that would not be the only way. Sometimes general patterns don’t give anyone knowledge but they help and make it easier for someone to gain knowledge and understanding. For example when students do math, if they are familiar with it then it is easier to understand and gain knowledge. If a student has been practicing the techniques and ways of solving the problems over time or for a while then usually it is going to get easier for them to solve harder and more challenging ones because of how familiar…
