The I LOVE YOU DEAF PROGRAM or ILYDP aims to give the deaf equal opportunities, sense of belongingness and higher self esteem. The objectives of this program for the deaf are to;
1. Give free seminars and trainings to their family members on how to use and understand and communicate using the sign language. 2. Give recognition of the use of a special badge.
3. Develop their skills and talents through cheaper but adequate training and education. 4. Give them the privileges to live freely in our society without discrimination.
We are created by GOD and all that GOD created are good. We are all equal in the eyes of GOD. It doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor, black or white, beautiful or not. We are all equal and we are all good.But as I look around, I can see lot of things, different things and ends up in a question, “are all of us really equal?...are all of us really good?.”
Can you consider a person good if he doesn’t have the ability to hear? It soothes your heart to hear music, can they hear it too? We can listen and speak to express how we feel, but how about them? How can they listen? How can others know how they feel? Lucky we are to hear others compliments and speak to them in return, but how about the Deaf? Deafness is the inability to hear or listen. In most cases hearing impaired persons are at the same time mute. They do not have the ability to hear anything and this is the reason why no single word can come out of their mouth as well aside from mumbling. What are the causes of this incapability?
Some are affected during pregnancy period. It can be that a mother while bearing the baby inside her womb had encountered an accident or she had taken any drugs or medication that affected the growth of the child. Some are affected due to illness in their early month’s years after birth.
But although they are deaf, these people do have special talents skills and intelligence that they can be proud of. They are not unlucky but rather special. They cannot hear us but they listen. They listen not with their ears but with their hearts. Yes, they are special people but it doesn’t mean they don’t have space in our society. They too can take part in the society where we are into. They too have the rights and privileges that we have. They too are very much welcome in the world of work. Let us not discriminate them for there are things that deaf people only know while we don’t. Instead of scrutinizing them, why not help them? Help them use their skills, talents and intelligence to perform well, and to face the world where all of us, deaf of not are involve.
Give them the privilege to enhance their skills, talents and intelligence by giving them cheaper yet proper and adequate education. Deaf people needs better education too. They need proper training to enhance their talents and skills and at the same time make them fully equipped individuals ready to face the outside world. They only lack the ability to hear and speak but these people do have their minds and feelings too. Their incapability doesn’t mean that they are not capable of going to school because they are the ones who really needed it the most. They too have their dreams of having a better and brighter future, so it is just right to give it to them, we as normal individuals can make, shape and hit those dreams that they want to have to, like us we do.
The I LOVE YOU DEAF PROGRAM will encourage everybody to support morally and financially all the existing schools and institutions that give chances to those who are hearing impaired individuals in acquiring high quality education. ILYDP will inspire for the...
