Peer Pressure
Teenagers are at the stage in their life where they are trying to figure out their role in society. During your teenage years is where you learn more about what the world has to offer. While you are growing up you gain many freedoms, you start becoming your own individual, and you're put in situations where you have to make your own decisions and choices. Some choices that teenagers make during this point in time may even affect them for the rest of their life. Teenagers lives are greatly affected by others around them. Sometimes people are making decisions solely based off of other people's opinion towards a certain scenario. Not all teenagers are leaders, some follow others and decide to just go with whatever others tell them to do. They are influenced by this term called peer pressure, which is a strong issue among teens.“Peer pressure is the social influence in encouraging an individual to act or change his values or behavior in order to be in conformity with a group and the need to have the approval of such group.” (plumaatpapel) Why is it that people fall into peer pressure? At the end of the day the real answer isn't clear. It's not hard to tell that numerous teenagers are just vulnerable to being victims of peer pressure. As a teenager your social life matters to you a great deal, everyone wants to fit in. It gets to the point in time where some people will do whatever it takes to fit in and whatever it takes for people to like them. Not only are people pressured because they want to fit in, but also just the curiosity of the youngsters allows for them to be pressured into trying something new just to be accepted. ” The idea that "everyone's doing it" may influence some kids to leave their better judgment, or their common sense, behind. “ (University Of Michigan) There are certain character traits of a person that may make them more vulnerable to being a victim of peer...
