PATRIOTISM

There was this one particular day, where we studied about Patriotism (Pagkamakabayan), which is true love for the homeland; and it has changed my views on being a patriotic person a lot. Patriotism grows from loyalty to one's nation out of love for its citizens and its natural resources, it is a duty that every person must be proud to have; because if it weren't for our country, then we would be homeless. We owe a lot to our country, and let us give back by giving love and time for it because for all we know, it has given us much more than we can ever give it back.

Let us not be shy that we are Filipinos; instead let's be proud of it! The Philippines may not be a first-world country but the fact that we are together as one and face the problems of our nation together, hand-in-hand, is what we are supposed to be proud of. Some countries may be rich and well known, but what about us? The citizens of our country always stood up for one another, and we all work towards the improvement of our country.

As a scholar, it has given me a lot of opportunities to realize things I never thought I would have. And one of this is that the Philippines, and the government has done a lot for us. We would not be in school studying with the best of the best for free, if it weren't for them. I wouldn't be living in a home now, if the Philippines isn't here. I will never be able to reach my dreams, if I have not been given opportunity by the country and the government to study in Pisay.

I am more than thankful that the whole country supports those who are deserving of being scholars, those who will lead the country to a better future. In return, I promise to become more studious and support the country in whatever its endeavors will be. I will always be loyal, and when I finally reach success, I will always look back at the people who has helped me reach the top; especially God and our country. I will show my love and appreciation for the country, from now

We had brought them our pop culture, sports, foods, and many other “American” ideas. Once these ideas established the Philippines had lost some of their roots. Losing their native dialects and such is just one of the many culture specific values that had diminished. This is why the Philippines is very similar to the United States and it had not taken long for them to change, only a few decades. The Philippines can now look at this culture change as beneficial and detrimental.…

Patriotism is defined as a devoted love, support and defense of one’s country; national loyalty. Although, this definition is a good way to define patriotism, it is not the only way to define true patriotism. Patriotism can be defined differently to people. It is something that we as Americans have to feel within. Sometimes we as people have to actually experience things first hand rather than someone tells a person about their own precipitance of something. Different people having different stances on patriotism, make the identification of true patriots very interesting. True Patriotism is loving your country and being open mined that other people love their country the same as well. People, who are not truly patriots from within, are always trying to portray their pseudo patriotism by only remembering their country and national identity, on the Independence Day and other national occasions. On the other hand, the rest of the year is spent by constantly neglecting the responsibilities and liabilities as citizens and patriots of the country. This is what the other means by the term pseudo patriotism. In this short story Goldsmith was use to seeing real and true patriots who did not require showing off their intentions and feelings about heir relationship with the country. There silent and hidden act are enough to portray their patriotic nature and these acts also play the role of contributor towards the country (Goldsmith).…

I don't love my country. In fact, I fail to see how it is possible to love my country. Now, I live in America, and, from somebody who's traveled a bit, it's not too bad here. The streets are fairly clean, one is free to say more or less what one thinks (outside of school, of course), and the standard of living is fairly high. So, I like living in the US. However, I could never love America.…

Patriotism, such a short word but actually it is more than ten letters. I think patriotism is doing everything for your homeland. These are working for it, going elections, attending national holiday ceremonies and being respectful your founder and all soldiers who died for your homeland during wars in the past. This is not very easy thing for everybody to do. Everybody can say I love my homeland but patriotism is not only saying “I love”. If you feel proud while singing your national anthem, if your eyes become tear filled while listening a poem about your nation, if you miss your founder everyday even you haven’t see him before, this is patriotism and this is being Turkish. Actually in our country, past is very important because this country…

Can you say that you're patriotic if your singing your national anthem? Well, let's say it is a form of respect to our country, but your just singing, you're not expressing it on how you should be doing it. What about, reciting the "Panatang Makabayan?" It is mostly done in schools, everyday we're always reciting it, and in a way, we cannot somehow to memorize it. It is like a simple poem, and we cannot recite it very well.
