ABSTRACT

Traffic lights are one of the traffic control system that is meant for all types of vehicle to cross a usually busy intersection. Interestingly, the usage of traffic light does not and will not guarantee an accident will not occur. It is because, the use of traffic lights nowadays is designed with a function such as sensor and non sensor system. Coincidently, accident at intersections can still occur even when the traffic light has been used since a long time ago at intersections.

To test the effectiveness of both traffic control system, research has been conducted to identify the best practice that must be used and to do so is by getting accident data from Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM). Based on the information, the effectiveness can be compared by cost installation and total number of accident and deaths either the best choice is by installing sensor or non sensor traffic control system. The information of the cost installation are collected through ann interview session with
