Thesis Statement

Internet is the most common source of information for end users across the globe. In addition, it caters for everything a user could possibly research for on and thus provides the best means for finding information. The internet can be described as a network of networks that consists of millions of private, public, academic, business, and government networks, of local to global scope, that are linked by a broad array of electronic, wireless and optical networking technologies. Internet is the best way of finding information for the students of Sangam SKM College, Nadi. An advantage of internet is that it enhances or broadens a student’s knowledge on various aspects of teachings. It empowers students educationally and provides tremendous amounts resources for any end user of any age. A disadvantage of internet is that it is severely damaging the mental and physical health of children and young adults. This may be through addiction, explicit contents and plagiarism.


Many people have helped me to complete this research project through their knowledge, ideas and all that they could offer me.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude towards the following people in helping me compile this research project.

Firstly, I would like to thank my parents Mr. and Mrs. Kumar for helping me financially.

Secondly, my siblings for helping me type and for providing ideas on how to go about completing my entire write up.

Thirdly, I would like to thank my English teacher (Mrs. Revika Prasad) for guiding me throughout the write up.

Fourthly, I would like to thank the students who contributed their ideas and knowledge to answer the questionnaires that were given out. They are as follows:

I have selected the topic “Internet an Educational Empowerment for the students of Sangam SKM College, Nadi”. Internet provides a variety of information to the users all the time.

In order to find out more about the topic, I used the following research methods:

Primary Research

I distributed eight questionnaires to the students and staff of Sangam SKM College, Nadi, to get their views and ideas and to know how they looked at the internet. Out of the eight, four questionnaires were given to the students and four questionnaires were given to the teachers.

Secondly, information was also collected through personal interviews conducted within the school. Seven students were interviewed to get their thoughts on the Internet’s responsibility in empowering us as students. Three teachers were also interviewed from different departments namely; Language, Science and Mathematics. It was interesting to note that their opinions and views about the internet were indifferent from those of the students.

Secondary Research

Information was also collected from different sources such as the world book, textbooks, and dictionaries from the Nadi Town Council Library. The internet was also accessed in order to collect relevant information pertaining to the research topic.
