Chris McCandless‘s admirers are wrong to believe that he was a deeply honest person. At some moments in Into the Wild, he was not an honest person. According to Westerberg, a McCandless’s friend, said, “He never explained why he’d changed his name” (Krakauer 18). When McCandless decided to make a trip into the wild, he changed his name; he did not even bring any identification with him. During the trip, everybody knew about him under the name Alex. Westerberg was a friend that was close to McCandless, but he never knew McCandless’s real name until he discovered from McCandless’s tax form. Westerberg was so surprised, but he did not ask McCandless the reason why he changed his name. Westerberg knew something happened between McCandless and his father, which McCandless never told him. Unfortunately, he did not have a change to hear the truth from McCandless. The significance about changing his name was that McCandless did not want everybody to know the truth of his personality. He hid everything about himself and his family, except his sister. It was a pain in his heart when he thought about his father. Beside this, McCandless was also a dishonest person in his family. He kept all things he knew about his father inside, even his sister. In Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer wrote, “but he did not confront his parents with what he knew, then or ever. He chose instead to make a secret of his dark knowledge and express his range obliquely, in silence and sullen withdrawal” (Krakauer 123). These actions by McCandless suggest much about his character. His problem with his father could be solved if he told the truth with his parents, but he never did that. He just kept inside and became angry to his father, even lying to his friend with a new name. Lying with his friend and his family was lying to himself. He could not stand it because his father was lying to him and his mother, but he still repeated the mistake of telling lies with his parents. Keeping…
My sophomore year, around April I started reading "Crank" by Ellen Hopkins. I only got somewhere around the 100th page and then stopped reading, because I was always busy with school work. we read a book in class called "Looking for Alaska", I truly enjoyed reading it, that is when I started slowly getting more interested in reading. When school ended for the summer, I had to take summer school, and for my English class I had to read a book and give a presentation over it. The book I chose to read was "The Story of My Life" By Helen Keller, before that I have not been able to finish a book I selected by my liking in almost two years.…
Toy companies market separately to male and female children, furthering this inaccurate stereotype. Legos has one brand that called LegoGirls, which consists of five female characters, bricks to make houses, and props such as brushes, cooking tools, and vacationing…
Uli tells us that LEGO changed its marketing strategy from exclusively boys to both genders in 1981 with the “What it is is beautiful” campaign where children of all genders play with LEGOs. The LEGO Research Institute is working to improve the availability of toys for girls. Since the 1980s LEGO has changed advertising strategies to show a pair of hands building with the toys and finally in 2006 ads featuring blocks over a shadow. LEGO attempts to market toward a very large diverse consumer market following Rule Utilitarianism.…

One of my children's favorite treats is homemade banana walnut bread. As long as there is a cup of milk to accompany the treat my kids are ready to eat. Most of the time my whole family makes them to enjoy quality time together. Banana walnut bread not only brings us together, but it provides us with a yummy treat for our dessert after dinner. Usually my wife makes sure to have enough ingredients for all four of us, and we make a list of any missing ingredients to buy from the store. After our dinner we clean up and my wife calls me and the kids to the kitchen and we all begin the fun process. For banana walnut bread, we use the Martha Stewart recipe found on her website . Before we begin, my wife preheats the oven to 350 degrees. Once my wife turns the oven we begin to gather all of the ingredients and set them on the table. We gather the necessary bowls for mixing, measuring cups, measuring spoons, and the electric mixer. We also use one 9-by-5-by-3-inch loaf pan. Once the preparations are set, we begin combining the ingredients to make our final product. First we grease the loaf pan with a little bit of butter. Then we add half cup of butter and one cup of sugar into the electric mixer until is light and fluffy, we stir in two eggs, one at a time to incorporate. In a medium bowl, we whisk together one in a half cups of flour, one teaspoon of baking soda, and one teaspoon of salt. Then we add it to the butter mixture, and mix until just combined. We add 2 bananas to another bowl and mashed them all up. When they are mashed up we add half cup f sour cream, and one teaspoon of vanilla extract and mix to combine. At this point, we take our original, dry mixture and gradually beat it into the wet mixture. Finally, we stir in the ingredients, add the walnuts and pour into the prepared pan. We insert the loaf into our preheated oven for about 1 hour 10 minutes, we insert a cake tester into the center of the cake until…
An expensive barber does not necessarily cut hair better than a reasonably priced one. I used to think that a good haircut would be expensive, so I looked for a shop that did not have low prices. I found one and told the barber I wanted my hair cut short. He cut my hair and I went home. When I got home, my mother told me my head looked crooked. The barber had not bothered to make sure that the left and right sides were trimmed to the same length. When my hair grew back, I asked friends to recommend a good barber shop that charged reasonable prices. The barber they recommended was very careful and made sure my hair looked good before saying he was finished. When I got home, my mother said I looked great. I realized then that you cannot judge a haircut by its price.…

Any abnormal change in chemical, physical and biological features of environment is called pollution. It means adding impurity to environment.Environmental pollution is the greatest curse of modern world. Our world is now badly affected by air, water, land and sound pollutions. The fresh air in which we breathe gets polluted by combustion of fossil fuel, emission smoke and gas from motorized vehicles and factories etc. A huge amount of industrial and municipal wastages are thrown in the rivers, seas, or on land thoughtlessly. It brings about land and water pollutions. High sound of microphones and electric horns cause sound pollution. Heart diseases, respiration trouble, asthma, deafness and cancer etc are caused by pollution. Water pollution forces watery animals and plants to face premature death. Reckless application of chemical fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides pollutes the soil. Vegetables and fruits are quite injurious today. In short environmental pollution leads all living beings to tragic death. So we have to take stern steps to save our beautiful planate from environmental pollutions through extensive plantation.…

It is commonly asserted that cencorship is necessary for some reasons such as protection of children or govermental secrets, it is definitely against the human rights and freedom of press. Newspapers and news are the only way which let people know the situation in the country or even outside of the country. Ann Cooper who is the Executive Director of CPJ claimed that in the countries which practise censorship, people are separated from other people and everthing because of the dictatorial behaviors of the goverment, and they are fearful (2 May 2006). It shows that censorship kils the freedom in the country and it has bad effects on people, and maket hem feel insecure even their home country. Another bad effects of the censorship is the possibility of the fake news.If the media does not let people knoow the things happening , because of the censorship, that can cause many fake news from unreliable sources. To sum up, to protect the freedom in a country , censorship definitly should not a practise , because of any reason.…

I started to believe in myself when I took Journalism as a subject in school. When the second semester began, I am very much pressured about writing an article dealing with news or broadcasting. I thought I will get 5.00 as my grade and I will never do anything great. When we started talking about writing straight news, nervousness ran through my blood, thinking I can never write something extravagant. My nervousness became worse when my professor tasked us to write a very hard news article about a speech. But when the results came out, I was surprised when our group got the highest and even the perfect score! Everyone wowed when they heard my preliminary grade, which is 101%. In the end, I realized that all I need is to believe on myself.…
