What is your favorite holiday? (Rhetorical question) Christmas would have to be mine. Christmas is a well-known holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. Most religions celebrate it on December 25th. Depending on where you are from, the name for Christmas may vary. For example, Nativity, Noel, Christmastide, Yuletide and Xmas are often used as other names for Christmas.
For most people in the world, Christmas is their favorite holiday for many reasons, such as, receiving presents, eating a lot of cookies, and decorating your house. (Parallelism) Christmas has many different traditions and ways to celebrate it.
What is the real meaning of Christmas? Some people think that the real meaning of Christmas is hanging up Christmas lights, opening presents, having a big turkey meal with your friends and family, decorating your house with Christmas trees and stockings and singing Christmas carols. For others, Christmastime can be a very sad time of the year. Some families don’t have any extra money to buy gifts for their children, family and friends. Some families can’t afford a big turkey dinner. Some families just want to be around each other and enjoy their presence. (Repetition) Christmas is often a sad day for the people who have lost a loved one or who don’t have any family and friends that live around them. Christmas can also be seen as a season of joy. For Christians, the real meaning of Christmas is celebrating the birth of Jesus. God shows His great love for us through Christmas and it can be a time of healing and renewed strength. Jesus’ birth brought great joy to the world. Everybody in the world has their own opinion of what the real meaning of Christmas is.
