Imagine a young child at the playground, slipping down a slide, swinging on the monkey bars, and laughing with glee. When a mother decides to get an abortion, that entire image goes away with a blink of an eye. What that mother might not know is her child might be the next person to cure cancer or be the greatest movie star of all time. The public is divided on this issue and they do not know if one should be pro-life or pro-choice. People that believe in pro-choice think the decision should be up to the mother. It is the mother’s body and she should have the right to decide what happens to it. However, every life matters and the child should not be in the cross fire of the mother’s decision. Abortion violates the child’s right to live and…

According to statistics provided by Guttmacher institute, “there were approximately 1.05 million abortions in the United States in 2012 alone” (Abortion Counters 4). To many, that might be just a number and it does not necessarily mean anything, but lets just take some time to think about how tremendously that number actually is. The image of 1.05 million lifeless, innocent premature babies is horrific, and many do not realize how sick and wrong it is. That number is more than just a statistic but it is the amount of lives that were ended way to early. As someone who stands for pro-life, aborting a baby is not something that should be an option so easily for women. Women nor anybody else should have the authority to end a child’s life prematurely.…

The rights of the mother exceed the rights of the unborn child, because she has spent (however many years) getting to wherever she is in life therefore, why should her life be taken away because of one mistake she has made, by something that does not know who she is or what her situation may be. By saying that the rights of the unborn child are greater, is saying that the creator of the life is inferior to the life itself and that makes no sense…

"Why don't I just get an abortion?" Maria asked her husband. "You absolutely won't, I won't let you kill my child. We'll work this out; we'll make the payments to the hospital little by little," replied Daniel in disbelief. Maria was contemplating getting an abortion because she and Daniel had virtually no money. Daniel felt they could work through it. Abortion is the worst route to take when it comes down to a choice. Abortion is a provoked termination, or annihilation, of a pregnancy and the removal of an embryo or fetus. Not only is it a termination of an embryo but it is also harmful to the woman, one harmful aspect is that it increases the chance of breast cancer; and most of all abortion is the killing of a child, whether born or not, and therefore should be illegal.…

In Judith Thomson’s article on abortion, Judith states that she is “pro-life” when it comes to abortion. Argument like this is called “slippery slope arguments”. By this, she means that once you start to defend this topic, there is no stopping. She says that it would be arbitrary to draw the line on when a fetus becomes a human being.…

B. Thesis: Abortion is a highly controversial topic in America. The act of disregarding a human life and terminating a pregnancy should only be performed on women who have been victims of rape, incest, or failed contraception. Instances where the pregnancy is terminated because the child threatens the health and well being of the female should also be a valid reason for an abortion to be performed. Other than those circumstances listed, the fetus should have the right to develop and have a life of its own.…

Sanctioning abortion devalues life. Every premise used to justify the killing of an unborn child could also be used to justify the killing of individuals such as senile elderly persons or those who are psychologically impaired -- who some consider less than a person in the whole sense.…

The main argument pertaining to abortion is whether or not a fetus is a "person" that is "indistinguishable from the rest of us" and if it deserves rights equal to women's. On this question there is a tremendous spectrum of religious, philosophical, scientific, and medical opinion, but it all really depends on who you ask. It's been argued for centuries. Fortunately, our society has recognized that each woman must be able to make this decision, based on her own conscience. To impose a law defining a fetus as a "person," granting it rights equal to or superior to a woman's, thinking, feeling, conscious human being, is not only arrogant but absurd. It only serves to diminish a woman's value. (Heritage House 76, Inc.)Under the view of pro choice supporters the embryo is not a baby since it can not survive and live outside the uterus since it receives everything needed to survive from the mother's body. In a sense the fetus dies but it was never living to begin with so it can not be considered an act of murder as pro-lifers would argue. More simply consider acorns and trees. (Robinson) Just as an acorn is a fertilized egg of the oak, that does not make it a tree. Sure it has the potential to become an oak tree, but it has not yet grown to that…

Having an abortion does not cause harm nor is it killing a person. So, is abortion really murder? When does a person become a person? Will you need a brain a heart and other working body parts? A fetus brain does not work while it is developing nor does its heart. Even we need our hearts to beat to be alive. The fetus does not feel pain while being aborted this is backed by science. The spinal cord and nerves are not developed to feel pain. 89-92% of all abortions happen during the first trimester, prior to the 13th week of pregnancy (CDC). 1.4% occurred after twenty-one weeks' of a pregnancy (CDC). The 1.4 that took place after the 21 week mark was because the fetus was fatal to mother if it was not removed. Embryos and fetuses are not independent beings. They cannot live on their own and are not self-sustaining. Birth days are counted from the day they take their first breath in this earth, not the time that a male and female conceive them. . The majority vote in favor in Roe v. Wade states that "the word 'person,' as used in the Fourteenth Amendment [of the US Constitution], does not include the…

On January 22, 1973, abortion was made a legal right for women in the Roe vs. Wade case. The decision gives "a guarantee of certain areas or zones of privacy, and that "This right of privacy... is broad enough to encompass a woman's decision whether or not to terminate her pregnancy” (proconorg). This allows women to have control over their own bodies, and make decisions based on how their lives will be affected. The officials making these types of decisions won’t be there to feel what it’s like to be in the woman’s situation, so why should they be able to make that decision? There have also been some arguments that a fetus feels pain when an abortion is performed. According to a 2010 review by Britain's Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the cortex is needed in order to feel pain, and a fetus doesn’t develop it until the 26th week along. Abortions are performed much earlier than the 26th week. Access to abortion also prevents women from turning to illegal and unsafe options.…

Abortion is a heavily debated issue in our country. Many people believe it is immoral and unethical, while some see it as a necessity. Whether the fetus is one or forty-five weeks old, many still see it as murder. At what point of the term of a woman’s pregnancy, is a fetus considered a human being? This issue is still up for further debate. The debate in regards to abortion stems from whether a woman should have the right to end her pregnancy or give birth. I personally do not believe in abortion, however, I also believe it is a woman’s right to make that decision, especially in situations regarding teen pregnancy, financial hardships, rape, and incest. The following paragraphs will describe these circumstances in greater detail, supporting why I support pro choice abortion rights.…

Mother Teresa, one of the most highly looked upon woman once said, “Abortion kills twice. It kills the body of the baby and it kills the conscience of the mother.” If so many people cherish this very respected woman, why do they continue to believe abortion is allowable? Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy. In 1973 the case of Roe v. Wade legalized abortion throughout the country. There have come to be two sides known as Pro-Life and Pro-Choice. Pro-Life people are against abortion and believe life begins at conception, while those who are Pro-Choice believe it is the woman’s body and they have the right to make the decision of what they want to do (Head). Although many believe abortion should be legal in the case of incest and rape, we as humans should not have the decision to decide if an unborn child gets the right to live or not. Abortion should be illegal because it is the killing of unborn children and the parents will suffer from many psychological disorders afterwards.…
