Era janeiro de 1996. José Valderas, vice-presidente da divisão de Owens & Minor (O & M), um $ 3 bilhões distribuidora de suprimentos médicos e cirúrgicos, estava dirigindo de volta ao seu escritório Savage, Maryland.

    On this piece of research, the authors frankly presented the current problems of our health care system. While focusing on the problems, the authors also encourage practitioners to accept evidence-based guidelines to treat their patients (Swensen et al., 2010). I found this article significant, especially since it presents issues such as gaps among medical science and existing medical practice, large amount of needless test or medical procedures that are usually performed to patients, safety problems and problems with quality of care. In few words, the authors summarize a main concept which is the value of the health care. This concept includes the way patients receive treatments, it should be the right one” for the right patient at the right time” (page 12 (2)). Consequently, it includes the method used to provide the right treatment and obtain best outcomes, while considering costs.
