Research critique on Pre-hospital treatment of Opioid overdose in Copenhagen [Author]
Research critique on Pre-hospital treatment of Opioid overdose in Copenhagen The obsession of opioid overdose has become extensive these days throughout the world (Clarke et al, 2005, p. 616) . The use of narcotics has led human lives towards dreadful circumstances and it has been unveiled that the increase in death rates of opioid users is due to the immense ingestion of narcotics (Sporer & Kral, 2007, p. 177). Numerous research studies have disclosed that Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark has a majority of opioid overdose users (Vilke et al, 1999, p. 186; Pedersen et al, 1997, p. 95; Lenton & Hargreaves, 2000, p. 263) . The article “Pre hospital treatment of opioid overdose in Copenhagen—Is it safe to discharge on scene?” written by S.S Rudolph, G.Jehu, K.Nielsen & L.S. Rasmussen critically examines the situation of opioid overdose patients in Copenhagen. It describes that results obtained after the on scene release of such patients. The article precisely discusses the opioid overdose cases occurred during 1994-2003 and inspects the core reasons behind the death of certain patients. Opiod overdose effects are outrageous and it has the capability to escort towards horrible circumstances. Naloxone is the most efficient and effective treatment dose for the patients suffering from these conditions. The Medical Emergency Care Unit (MECU) is the primary source for the treatment of opiod overdose (Wanger et al, 1998, p. 299; Kerr et al, 2008, p. 379). The team is available 24hours and provides medication facilities to the affected ones. The intention of this medication service is to cure the patients on spot and release them on scene after treatment (Rudolph, Nielsen & Rasmussen, 2011). Purpose of the Study
The purpose of the study described in the article is to examine the radical impacts of Opioid overdose prevalent among the masses. This study aims to determine the ratio of patients which survived during 1994-2003. The research paper is a critical analysis of the patients who died due to opioid overdose. It aims to discover reasons of their death and propose measures so that such cases would not appear in future (Baca & Grant, 2005, p. 1822).The study also gives a new spectrum of research in the field of narcotics and recommends new measures for cure. The death of three likely rebound overdose cases predicts that there is a room of improvement and development in the field (Kelly et al, 2008, p. 385).
Furthermore study has been conducted to find out the affects of MECU treatment to the patients. It focuses on verifying patient’s cure rate and suggests that what essential steps can be taken for betterment. It also exemplifies that which sort of treatment is given instantly and what results are obtained in the past ten years. It presents a hawk eye review that about the strengths and weaknesses of this whole treatment process. It presents that what essential benefits can be obtained from this study and how much ethical principles play their role in this whole dilemma. One of the most important things about this study is that it portrays that whether this system of treatment should continue or not and what kind of improvements can be brought into the system. Research Methodology
The study of eradicating the nuisance of opioid overdose with naxolone treatment contains sheer importance and significance. The research methodology utilized primarily is the use of CASP tool. This tool enables a deep inside examination of the process and elaborates its advantages and shortcomings on a wider spectrum. The whole treatment procedure till its outcomes is assessed in this phase subsequently, so that everything would be crystal clear. Research Problems and Research Question
The research question which arises from the article is that whether the measures taken...
